OptiQual® HSV-1 DNA Controls

The OptiQual HSV-1 DNA Control is intended for use in assessing the performance of nucleic acid test procedures for the determination of Herpes Simplex Virus-1 DNA (HSV-1 DNA). Routine use of external run controls enables laboratories to monitor day-to-day test variation, lot- to-lot performance of test kits, and operator variation, and can assist in identifying increases in random or systematic error. This product is for research use only. Not for use in Diagnostic Procedures.

Principles of the Procedure

The OptiQual® HSV-1 DNA Control contains Herpes Simplex Virus-1 that was propagated in tissue culture, sucrose density gradient purified, and diluted in a proprietary physiological matrix that mimics naturally occurring human specimens containing HSV-1 DNA. This product contains intact, encapsidated viral particles. It does not contain purified, free viral DNA.

The OptiQual® HSV-1 DNA Control is designed to help ensure the quality of nucleic acid test results and to monitor assay performance. Frequent testing of independent quality control samples provides the scientist with a means of monitoring the performance of assays.

The OptiQual® HSV-1 DNA Control is designed to produce reactive results in HSV-1 DNA assays. Expected results utilizing the OptiQual HSV-1 DNA Controls must be established by the end user for their particular HSV-1 DNA assay.

The OptiQual® HSV-1 DNA Control contains active HSV-1 diluted in a proprietary physiological matrix containing ProClin® 300 as a preservative.
