OptiQual® HCV Genotyping Panel
The OptiQual® HCV Genotyping Panel is intended for use in the identification of different genetic variants (genotypes) of human hepatitis C virus (HCV). The OptiQual® HCV Genotyping Panel contains naturally occurring hepatitis C virus of the appropriate genotype within a human serum matrix.
Procedure
The OptiQual® HCV Genotype Panel has been carefully formulated to mimic naturally occurring human specimens containing HCV RNA of specific genotypes. Therefore, the panel can be used with any test procedure designed for identifying different genetic variants of HCV in human serum or plasma.
Interpretation of Results
OptiQual® HCV genotype panel provides clinical laboratories and manufacturers with quality control samples that have been genotyped by a number of independent methods, including sequencing of the 5’ untranslated or non-coding region (5’UTR or 5’NC) and the non-structural protein 5 (NS5) regions as well as probe hybridization. This well-characterized panel allows testing laboratories and other end users to compare new HCV genotype test procedures, and demonstrate assay proficiency.
OptiQual® HCV Genotype Panel
Each genotype panel member contains HCV positive plasma diluted in defibrinated, delipidized normal human plasma. The NHP was previously tested and found to be negative for HBV DNA, HCV RNA, HIV-1 RNA, antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2, HBsAg, antibodies to HCV and antibodies to HTLV I - II.
Each genotype panel member contains one of the four major genotypes of HCV. The major genotypes of HCV are based upon a classification system defined through phylogenetic analysis of sequences in the non-structural protein 5 (NS-5) region of the HCV genome. Some commercially available or in-house genotyping methods may depend upon hybridization or sequencing within other regions of the HCV genome.
Each genotype panel member contains 0.05% sodium azide and 0.05% gentamicin sulfate as preservatives.

Storage Instructions
It is recommended that the OptiQual® HCV Genotype Panel be stored at -70°C or lower to ensure highest quality. Panel members may be refrozen after first use. And they can be thawed and used a second time with minimal loss of activity. Di scard any unused material after the second use. Any panel members that appear cloudy or contain precipitates after thawing should be discarded.
