Procedure

OptiQual®EBV DNA control has been carefully formulated to mimic naturally occurring human specimens containing EBV DNA. Therefore, the controls can be used with any test procedure designed for detecting EBV DNA in a variety of human specimens.

Interpretation of Results

The OptiQual®EBV Control helps to ensure the quality of nucleic acid test results and to monitor assay performance. This independent set of external controls allows testing laboratories and other end users to compare results obtained by different methodologies, evaluate or compare new nucleic acid test procedures for EBV DNA, and demonstrate assay proficiency and reproducibility within the research environment.

Product Description

Each positive control contains active virus that is diluted in a proprietary physiological matrix that mimics naturally occurring human specimens containing EBV DNA. Therefore, the controls can be used with any test procedure designed for detecting EBV DNA in blood, CSF or other body fluids.

Each control contains ProClin® 300 as a preservative.

The OptiQual®EBV DNA controls are designed to produce reactive results in EBV DNA detection assays. Expected results utilizing the OptiQual EBV DNA Controls must be established by the end user for their particular EBV DNA assay.

Storage Instructions

It is recommended that the OptiQual®EBV DNA Controls be stored at -20°C to -80°C to ensure highest quality. Controls may be stored at 2°C to 8°C for up to 7 days after thawing with minimal loss of activity. The controls are designed for single use, and multiple freeze-thaws should be avoided. Any controls that appear cloudy or contain precipitates after thawing should be discarded.
